An Associate Certified Coach, ACC, Karen’s clients are professionals, business leaders, entrepreneurs, managers and teams who want to leverage their best assets to create environments that balance business excellence and inspire personal development.

Karen’s successful coaching, facilitation and consulting business, Karen Hanna Coaching was established in 2014, following an accomplished corporate career culminating as an Organizational Development manager in the Federal Public Service. Her managerial expertise has been honed over thirty plus years and includes a varied foundation in scientific research, laboratory quality management, learning and development, as well as, experience as a human resources generalist and staff engagement specialist. Karen is known for her practical understanding of executive work, as well as, the front-line demands of staff while being equally mindful of life realities and corporate objectives. Karen bases her coaching style on the unique values and strengths of each individual while maintaining a practical and pragmatic approach to solutions-focused coaching of identifying issues, honing awareness and insight, identification of choices and consequences, followed by development of actions and accountability.

Karen possesses extensive public service experience in quality management, organizational development, staff engagement and facilitation. Karen’s natural affinity for building community, whether it is professional teams or family units has led to being a member of the executive team of a local non-profit organization that supports families’ mental wellness. Karen is the creator of Lids 4 Kids, a grassroots group committed to supporting vulnerable populations in the community while pursuing their love for knitting. Karen is a trained facilitator with the National Education Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder and is a passionate advocate for mental wellness. Currently, Karen holds the position of Vice President with the Ottawa Network for Borderline Personality Disorder (ON-BPD) where she is working to broaden mental health education and increase awareness.

Karen is passionate about supporting effective team strategies and has worked with many local businesses such as Diskdaddy Software & Web Design, Digitalsmith Virtual Library, the Canadian Council for Motor Transport Association (CCMTA) and the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum (CAF) , Ottawa Innercity Ministries, as well as federal government departments Health Canada (HC) and Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) and Elections Canada (EC). Karen’s clients are from a wide variety of industries in both private and public sector and her business has developed almost exclusively through referrals. Karen is a Career Transition Consultant with Lee, Hecht, Harrison and Knightsbridge supporting individuals have been affected by organizational changes. Karen is a mentor coach with Adler International Learning School.

Karen lives outside of Ottawa, Ontario with her two best friends – her husband and their dog. Karen is fiercely proud of her 5 grown children and is a beaming grandmother of two young boys.
